Apps for Couples: Questions, Calendars and Daily Habits
The best app for a couple depends on what both people want to do. Start with Paired for a supplied daily question, Gottman Card Decks for a conversation you choose, Cupla for a shared calendar, Between for messages and memories, or DuoKeep for one daily action with two personal check-ins.

Published by MYOHO Group LLC, the maker of DuoKeep. Product facts checked on October 9, 2026 against official pages. This is a documentation-based comparison; the suggested checks and fictional couple below are not results from testing the other apps. How we write our guides.
Choose the result you want to share
Name the job before you compare features. “We want more connection” could mean finding something to discuss, making a plan, keeping a memory or following through each day.
| Your situation | Start with | Check before you choose |
|---|---|---|
| You want a new question supplied each day | Paired | Both accounts must be paired; each person answers to see the other reply. |
| You want to choose a card and talk | Gottman Card Decks | Choose a topic you both want; check your phone’s current store compatibility. |
| You need to see each other’s future plans | Cupla | Check the intended date from the partner’s account, especially on Free. |
| You want a shared place for photos and messages | Between | Connect the two accounts and check which extras need Plus. |
| You want to report the same action every day | DuoKeep | Agree on one common rule; each person records their own result. |
Several of these apps also offer dates, photos or other activities. The table identifies a useful starting job, not an exclusive feature list or an overall ranking.
Already have your partner and want a common daily habit? DuoKeep lets the two of you report separately on one shared goal, with one active goal per pair free. Read the daily-action conditions below before choosing it.
DuoKeep · Habits for two
One goal. Two people.
Start together.
Build a daily habit with a friend or partner. Each person checks in separately, and each pair gets one active goal free.
Free to start. DuoKeep Plus is optional. Store availability and purchase prices vary by country.
Paired: a supplied daily question
Choose Paired when both of you want a prompt to respond to. You download it, link your accounts, and answer before reading your partner’s response. The official FAQ explains that flow and the free daily question.
- Both people download Paired and pair their accounts.
- Answer the daily question you receive. Do not assume the free plan lets you pick any question in the library.
- Read each other’s replies and decide what you want to discuss next.
One linked partner’s Premium subscription covers both accounts. It adds a larger content library and guided activities. Paired also describes photos, dates and a timeline; it is not limited to questions. Its FAQ offers a seven-day trial tied to a yearly plan. Check the offer and renewal terms on your own purchase screen.
Gottman Card Decks: choose a conversation
Choose Gottman Card Decks when you want to browse a topic and use a card to start talking. The free card app contains questions, statements and ideas, with favorites for cards you want to revisit.
A simple proposed use is to pick a card together, read it aloud and take turns responding. You can use your existing call if you are apart. This suggestion does not depend on an in-app shared-answer or video-call feature.
Check its iPhone listing or Android listing before installing. The current US iPhone listing requires iOS 18 or later. The free Card Decks app is separate from paid Gottman assessment and coaching products.
Cupla: appointments visible to both of you
Choose Cupla when the immediate problem is planning time together. It combines calendars and shared tasks. Both people need a connected account: Cupla’s partner guide describes an invitation link or six-digit partner code, which is different from a sign-in code.
The important free-plan limit concerns the other person’s calendar. You can view your own events at any date, but your partner’s events have a limited window around today. The current free-versus-Premium comparison does not specify its number of days. Your own future event being visible is therefore not proof your partner can see it.
- Connect your two accounts using the official invite flow.
- Enter a real appointment on the date you intend to use.
- Have the other person open that date and check the appointment’s time and visibility on their plan.
Premium removes the calendar time-range limit and covers a connected couple. The 14-day trial is tied to an annual subscription that starts charging after the trial unless cancelled through the store. Prices vary by region; compare the amount and renewal terms you are actually offered.
Between: messages and memories for two
Choose Between when you want a place for everyday messages, photos and remembered dates. Its official site links to iPhone and Android versions and describes a two-person chat, memories and calendar.
Both people sign up. The connection guide says one person can share an invitation code, and the recipient enters it and selects Connect. Then try one ordinary photo and message, and check that the other account can find them.
Between offers basic features and paid extras. Between Plus covers both linked partners when one pays and includes higher-quality photo downloads and removal of listed ad windows. The current Play listing declares ads and in-app purchases, so do not choose the basic plan expecting every feature to be ad-free.
DuoKeep: one action, two personal reports
Choose DuoKeep when you already have your person and both want to repeat the same action. You agree on a goal and deadline, invite the other person, and each record Done or Rest. One person’s Done does not complete the other person’s report.
For example, a couple who both want a daily conversation could propose: “Talk for two minutes with our phones put away.” They would each check in after their part of that conversation. Two minutes is a suggested starting rule, not a proven relationship target. The app records their reports; it does not monitor their phones or prove the conversation happened.
- Agree on the same daily completion rule and choose a deadline.
- One person creates the promise and shares its code or QR; the other joins. Invitation codes expire after 24 hours.
- Each person records their own result. Discuss a blank report rather than assuming the person skipped the action.
The shared goal uses its creator’s time zone. If you live apart, agree on that goal date and choose an action both can do under the same rule. Use the couples habit setup guide for the detailed agreement and reporting example.
One active goal per pair is free. Plus is optional; a subscriber expands the active-goal allowance for their pairs, while ad removal applies to the subscriber. Current App Store and Google Play entries explain availability and purchase conditions.
Use the format that fits your need. A scheduled weekly date calls for a calendar; a supplied prompt calls for a question app. If you each want different habits, compare ways to share individual habit progress instead.
One couple can need five different results
Alex and Sam are fictional. They want to spend more attention on each other, but that sentence does not yet tell them which app to choose. These are proposed first uses, not observed trial results.
| Their request | Proposed first use | What that gives them |
|---|---|---|
| “Give us something new to ask.” | Paired: both answer the supplied daily question. | Each person can read the other’s reply after answering. They still decide what to discuss. |
| “Let us choose what to talk about tonight.” | Gottman: pick an existing card and take turns responding. | A prompt for their conversation. They have not thereby created a shared daily completion record. |
| “Set aside Friday, October 23.” | Cupla: add the appointment, then Sam checks that date on their account. | A visible plan, if access permits. Alex seeing the event alone does not confirm Sam can see it or that the date happened. |
| “Keep the picture from our day together.” | Between: after connecting, send one photo and check the other account can find it. | A shared memory. The photo itself does not record a daily habit for both people. |
| “Keep our phone-away conversation going daily.” | DuoKeep: agree on the two-minute rule and each report their own result. | Two self-reports for the goal date. A blank remains unreported; one Done is not two. |
They can keep the app that meets their immediate need, or use two different tools if both jobs matter. There is no reason to turn an occasional appointment into a daily streak just to fit a tracker.
Check shared access before paying
A useful first-use check ends with both people seeing or doing the thing they wanted. Installing the app, entering a payment trial or seeing your own account is only part of that check.
- Write one request together: “We want to share ______.”
- Check that each phone can install the current version, then complete the relevant connection flow.
- Create or respond to one ordinary item. Look at the other person’s account too; for a calendar, use the actual future date you need.
- If something is missing, identify the account, date or plan condition. Buy a plan only if its documented allowance solves your problem and you both want the cost.
If you are not yet sure what to share, use the relationship goal guide to choose a priority first. An app can support a wanted activity; a feature list cannot decide that priority for you.
Common questions about apps for couples
Which couples apps can we use free?
Paired has a free daily question, Gottman Card Decks is a free card app, Cupla has a limited free sharing range, Between has basic features with paid extras, and DuoKeep has one active goal per pair free. A free download and an automatically renewing trial are different offers. See the official conditions in each section before choosing.
Do both people need to download the app?
Paired’s shared answers, Cupla’s connected calendar, Between’s shared space and DuoKeep’s two reports use both people’s accounts. For a card-led conversation, one person can read a Gottman card aloud when you talk. That is a suggested conversation method, not a claim about account or syncing features.
What if one of us has an iPhone and the other has Android?
All five options have iPhone and Android store entries. Check availability in your own countries, device compatibility and whether both accounts can use your needed feature. Store listings alone do not verify your particular two-phone connection. Gottman’s current iPhone version needs iOS 18 or later.
Which should we choose for a long-distance relationship?
Start with the thing you want to share: replies, future plans, memories or a daily action. If you choose DuoKeep for personal daily actions, agree on the shared goal’s date; the app does not host your call. A phone-away conversation together also needs a time when you can actually talk.
If your choice is one common daily habit with a partner you already know, agree on the rule and reporting plan before starting DuoKeep.
